SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR INFOSEC Engineer in Hawaii
This is a contingent opportunity based on contract award expected in September 2012. Contract is supporting NCTAMS Security Program and Information Assurance department located Wahiawa, HI. Requires a current Top Secret Clearance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide system administration supporting Computer Network Defense (CND) and Host Based Security Systems (HBSS) program.
Required Qualifications:
Shall have a Bachelor Degree in electrical, electronic or computer engineering; computer science, or related field required.
A minimum of eight years experience, of which at least five (5) must be specialized experience including system security analysis and implementation; design assurance or testing for INFOSEC products and systems; integration or testing for INFOSEC products and systems is required. A MS degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of experience. A PhD in a related field may be substituted for an additional two (2) years of experience. Experience in heterogeneous computer networking technology and work in protocol and/or interface standards specification is preferred. Analyzes and resolves INFOSEC technical problems. Configures testbeds and conducts testing, records and analyzes results, and provides recommendations for improvements for the products/systems under test. Areas of focus include Guard, Firewall, Secure Network Server, PCMCIA format security solutions, ‘Smart Cards’, and emerging technologies and future trends. Supports the integration of INFOSEC solutions and technologies into networks with particular attention to protocols, interfaces, and system design. General experience includes system engineering; electrical design, software engineering; program design and implementation; configuration management; or maintenance.
The clearance level required is dependent on the type of clearance supported by our client.
Desired Qualifications:
DOD 8570.01M IAT/IAM Level III/II certification ~ CISSP.
May possess Security+ must obtain CISSP within 6-months of direct support to program. Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the last 7 years of system administration and Computer Netwrok Defense (CND). Personnel shall also have no less than 3 years of which 2 years has occurred in the last 2 years experience with Host Based Security Systems (HBSS). Personnel shall obtain a COMPTia Security Plus, a government approved computing environment, and Advanced HBSS 4.0 certificates prior to reporting on duty. They shall also have relevant IA experience of no less than 4 years of which 2 years has occurred in the last two (2) years, as well as a minimum of 4 years experience in this labor category.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, maintains data files and control procedures for a complex system of networked computers or for a single group of microcomputers linked to a host workstation, or mainframe. Responsible for system security and data integrity. Assigns passwords and monitors use of resources, backs up files as required and responds to management requests for information.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes and maintains user accounts, assigns file permissions and establishes password and account policies; installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in a production environment.
Reviews performance logs and monitors system performance.
Troubleshoots and resolves basic level system hardware, software and communications problems; may perform configurations and adjustments to enhance database file capacity; performs automated and manual backup and restore processes.
Installs, configures and tests software packages.
Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary.
Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts per request.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and two to four years of related experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
